Screen Kiss 2006
dvd projection (1 min - looped) ‘Screen Kiss’ considered the paradox between the idealism of love and romance as portrayed in popular culture with the ‘real life’ awkwardness of attraction. The work comprises a series of visual transitions - wallpaper patterns made out of a pattern of kisses set against a silent narration of subtitles, creating a sense of ambivalence about the boundary between attraction and obsession. Screen Kiss was screened in ON Gallery, Posnan, Poland in 2005. In 2006 it was selected as part of the SSA on Screen touring exhibition. |

Purpose 2007
dvd projection (1 min - looped) Purpose was developed around an idea that I had about our need as a society (or maybe society's need for us) to be greater than ourselves, whether materially, physically, intellectually, emotionally or spiritually. It was a reference to how we can focus attention on the smallest, most insignificant action as a vehicle towards a greater/ higher purpose and our need to formulate rituals, create patterns and impose narrative and understanding on, and from, instinctive action. |
